Busy busy busy

It's good to be busy. But it's no fun when busy means no time for photos! BUT with the new year come s Mardi Gras and that of course provide plenty to photograph! I took a ton of photos which were carefully picked through and the favorites made it up on the flickr page. Spring is less than a week away and there is Festival International to look forward too. The best time of year!

Sharing Mardi Gras with Postcrossers

It is the middle of the Mardi Gras season right now. There have been balls and masquerades and parades with more to come. I have been on the look out for a suitable Mardi Gras post card to send to fellow Postcrossers, but just haven't been able to find what I'm looking for, so of course I had to create my own. A few years ago, I shot some parade stock footage and went off of that for the artwork. It was a pretty Mardi Gras day and masked king's men were tossing plenty of beads out to the crowds. I got a printed copy in today and was pleased. Now time to go get some colorful stamps and send a couple off!

These are for sale here on Zazzle.

Mardi Gras

Well, Mardi Gras has come and gone! It was a little chilly, but no parades were rained out and Mardi Gras day was warm in the sun. Here's the 2016 Mardi Gras album, images from a few of the Lafayette parades:

Slide Scans

My grandparents were involved in New Orleans Mardi Gras for years and there are several slides of their trucks and costumes and crowds. These are a couple of favorites. The kid on the street sign at Canal and Basin is from 1967 and the photographers are from 1972.

Krewe of Carnivale en Rio

It's Mardi Gras time and one of the first parades in the Acadiana (Krewe of Carnivale en Rio, Lafayette) kicked off last night. Weather was great! Hope it stays stays that way for the other events!
